Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has cautioned the public against deepfakes or AI-generated content used to impersonate individuals.
In a reminder shared on social media, the Ministry highlighted key digital safety measures to help prevent AI-related risks, stating: "Not everything you see or hear is real."
Deepfakes are AI-generated synthetic media created using technologies such as machine learning to produce convincing digital representations of individuals saying or doing things they never actually said or did.
Modern deepfakes can use techniques such as voice cloning, synthetic video calls and AI-generated content to mimic the way individuals communicate.
To avoid falling victim to such attempts, the Ministry advised the public to remain vigilant when encountering content online and avoid trusting or sharing content until its source and authenticity have been verified.
