Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced that, for the first time in Qatar, parents will be given an 18-month notice before private school fee increases take effect.
This comes in a press conference to launch the first edition of the School Fees Policy 2026 in private schools and kindergartens.
Dr Rania Mohammed addressing the Ministry officials, school and media representatives
Dr Rania Mohammed, Director of Private Schools and Kindergarten Department and Acting Director of the Private School Licensing Department at the Ministry while speaking to The Peninsula said, "For the first time in private education, parents will have a grace period of one and a half years from the time the fee increase is approved. This allows them to arrange their finances or transfer to another school. It also benefits the students as they are psychologically prepared for a potential school transfer."
She further stated that inflation rate, financial performance, and academic performance of the private school will be taken into account when a fee hike request is considered by the Ministry. "This will enhance competitiveness among private schools and also encourage raising academic performance in those schools," she added.
News report will be updated as more details arrive.
