Doha: The economic situation created by the COVID-19 crisis has pushed the people, including private individuals, institutions, business leaders and other stakeholders to develop unconventional ways in the future to cooperate and overcome its pervasive impact, noted a member of Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) at an event, yesterday.
The QBA participated in the “Qatar-Poland Virtual Meetings” organized by the Polish Embassy in Qatar, with a speech delivered by Salah Al-Jaidah, QBA member during the virtual opening session of the meeting.
The opening session included a speech by H E Janusz Janki, Ambassador of Poland to Qatar, also Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Poland, H E Abdullah Fakhro, delivered a welcome speech to the attendees, followed by a speech from Daniel Debala, Chairman of the Qatar-Polish Business Council, and the session concluded with a presentation of Qatar Free Zones Authority Presented by Fahad Al-Kuwari.
At the beginning of his speech, Al-Jaidah welcomed the participants and expressed QBA’s appreciation for the invitation to this important meeting and pointed out in his speech the global crisis the whole world is facing which it affects all economies, stressing that it has given everyone a reason to rethink how to design and operate the global economy to ensure its efficiency and resilience. He added that the State of Qatar, since the blockade, has become stronger and further developed its global communications network and infrastructure, which helped it a lot to overcome the crisis, in addition to the presence of strategic international partners who stood by the state and worked together to flourish commercial relations.
Al-Jaidah added: “The current crisis has urged us to develop unconventional ways in the future to cooperate with international private sector institutions and businessmen around the world in order to support the efforts of our countries to overcome them.”
He also highlighted that such meetings will help transfer experiences and expertise that may help all parties overcome challenges better and faster, and they can also help us build bridges with the aim of strengthening economic cooperation and opening new horizons and opportunities for businessmen and companies.
In his speech, Salah spoke about QBA’s role, saying that the association has been seeking since its inception, to serve the national economy, by supporting the state in its efforts to diversify sources of income, achieving sustainable and comprehensive development by 2030, localizing highly competitive industries while benefiting from the incentives provided by our government and the positively established investment climate, as well as the great opportunities that are capable of turning our country into a real workshop.
Salah concluded his speech by stressing out that this platform should be used to exchange ideas on how to create opportunities and ways to enhance cooperation between Qatar and Poland, wishing the success of the meeting in its discussions and objectives.
