Qatar's Al Rayyan, Al Shamal to play in West Asia Super League

Doha, Qatar: The draw for the second edition of the FIBA West Asia Super League basketball tournament has placed Qatar's Al Rayyan and Al Shamal in Groups A and B respectively in the Gulf League.

At the official fdraw which took place on Tuesday in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, drew Al Rayyan along with Kuwait Club, Saudi club Jeddah and the Bahraini club Muharraq.

In Group B, Al Shamal drew with Shabab Al Ahli Dubai, Bahraini champions Manama and the Kuwaiti Club Kazma. Meanwhile, in the West Asia League, Iranian side Gorgan were placed in Group A, along with Lebanese Dynamo, Al Naft, Al Itthihad Ahli of Aleppo and Dynamo, while the second group of the same region included the Riyadi, Al Ahli Amman, Al Wahda and Orthodox Beit Sahour.

This year''s tournament, the second edition of the same, will be held with a group league system of two groups divided into the regions of the Arab Gulf countries and the countries of West Asia, so that each region in turn includes two groups, each of which plays in a league system of two rounds, the results of which will determine four teams (champion and runner-up of each group) that qualify to the semi-finals for both regions.
