Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Municipality’s Department of Agricultural Affairs, participates in the meetings of the 32nd session of the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Central Region (CRC), affiliated with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), from June 5 to 9 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The participating delegation from the Department of Agricultural Affairs presented a detailed report on the desert locust situation in Qatar from 2019-2021 and the efforts made by the Plant Protection and Plant Quarantine Division in the department to get rid of it in 2020, when the country was exposed to swarms of locusts, and the periodic measures taken by the state through permanent monitoring and control operations.
