Doha: As many as 346 building permits were issued in May, the Planning and Statistics Authority and Ministry of Municipality and Environment have said in a press statement.
Comparing the number of permits issued in May 2021 with those given in the previous month, the authorities registered a general decrease of 30 percent. The decrease was noted in all of the municipalities: Al Shammal (70 percent), Al Khor (44 percent), Um Salal (40 percent), Al Rayyan (33 percent), Al Doha (31 percent), Al Da’ayen (26 percent), Al Wakrah (18 percent), and Al Sheehaniya (14 percent).
Al Rayyan municipality came at the top in terms of issuance of building permits as it issued 109 permits, accounting for 31 percent of the total issued permits. Doha municipality came in second place with 72 permits (21 percent), followed by Al Wakrah with 65 permits (19 percent), then Al Da’ayen with 54 permits (16 percent). The rest of the municipalities were as follows: Umm Salal 18 permits (5 percent), Al Khor 15 permits (4 percent), Al Sheehaniya 12 permits (3 percent), and finally Al Shammal 3 permits (1 percent).
In terms of type of permits issued, data indicates that the new building permits (residential and non-residential) constitute 44 percent (155 permits) of the total building permits issued in May 2021. In terms of new residential buildings permits data, villas topped the list, accounting for 62 percent (76 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by dwellings of housing loans permits by 19 percent (23 permits) and apartments buildings by 18 percent (22 permits).
Commercial buildings topped in non-residential buildings permits category with 50 percent (16 permits), followed by industrial buildings with 22 percent (7 permits), then governmental buildings with 16 percent (5 permits).
In case of building completion certificates, Al Rayyan municipality came at the top of the municipalities where the number of building completion certificates issued was 66 certificates (31 percent) of the total issued certificates. Al Wakrah came in second place with 54 certificates (25 percent), followed by Al Doha with 30 certificates (14 percent), then Al Da’ayen with 29 certificates (13 percent). The rest of the municipalities were as follows: Umm Slal 19 certificates (9 percent), Al Sheehaniya 9 certificates (4 percent), Al Khor 5 certificates (2 percent), and Al Shammal 4 certificates (2 percent).
In terms of the type of certificates issued, data indicates that the new building completion certificates (residential and non-residential) constitute 71 percent (154 certificates) of the total building certificates issued in May 2021. Commercial buildings topped in non-residential buildings completion certificates category with 50 percent (15 certificates), followed by industrial buildings with 37 percent (11 certificates), then mosques with 7 percent (2 certificates).
The number of certificates issued decreased by 35 percent in May 2021 compared to the previous month, This decrease was clearly noted in most of the municipalities including Al Khor (69 percent), Al Doha (51 percent), Al Da’ayen (46 percent), Al Shammal (43 percent), Al Rayyan (29 percent), Al Wakrah (25 percent), and Um Slal (17 percent), An increase was seen in Al Sheehaniya (13 percent).
