DOHA: Qatar Chamber (QC) Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Towar Al Kuwari has said Qatar is looking to open new horizons of cooperation between Qatar and South Africa to further enhance the bilateral economic and trade relations.
Addressing a visiting South African delegation, the Qatar Chamber Vice-Chairman said Qatari-South African’s relations are firm and distinguished. Both countries have maintained very strong political and economic ties for more than 23 years.
South Africa is one of Qatar’s leading trading partners. The trade volume hit $361m last year. There are several South African investments in Qatar in energy, infrastructure and construction sectors, he said.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to emphasize that Qatar Chamber is keen on encouraging Qataris to invest in your country. South Africa is an ideal investment destination for Qataris. “
“There are a multitude of the investment opportunities in both sides in all sectors, especially in the 2022 WORLD Cup related projects. We would like to benefit from South Africa’s experience in organising the football World Cup”, he said.
The QC Vice-Chairman said Qatar Chamber is keen to provide all necessary facilities for South African businessmen who seek partnerships or investment opportunities in Qatar.
Despite the unjust blockade imposed on Qatar since a year, he said, the Qatari economy is still growing rapidly and steadily. There is no impact on the national economy at all. Qatar is still a very attractive investment destination.
The government has taken measures and adopted many incentives to attract more investments to the country.
South African companies are invited to cooperate establish more trade alliances and partnerships with Qatari companies and benefit from these incentives.
