Doha: Al Khor will host Qatar SC today, hoping for a win and avoid relegation from the QNB Stars League.

Al Khor are on the bottom of the points table with 13 points, behind Al Sailiya on goal-difference (-26 as against Al Sailiya’s -20).

Qatar SC, who lost 1-2 to Al Rayyan in Week 21, are placed eighth with 23 points (six victories, five draws and 10 defeats).

Al Khor coach Andre Lima said the match is most important game for his side.

“We have prepared well for this match. We have no choice but to win. We have to play with high fighting spirit and get the three points,” Lima said yesterday.

“I cannot talk about the strategy with which we will play against Qatar SC, but we all know that this is our last chance, so team spirit is required to win this match.”

The Al Khor coach, however, said Qatar SC pose a tough test for his team.

“No one knows how this game will be, but Qatar SC are a big team and offer good levels of late, so they will play to win even though they are not under pressure. So we must be fully prepared and ready,” said Lima.

Qatar SC coach Youssef Safri said his team needs a win after heartbreak in Amir Cup quarter-final on Sunday, where they lost to Al Gharafa.

“I would like to talk about our previous match against Al Gharafa in the Amir Cup quarter-final, where we faced great heartbreak, especially in the dressing room, due to the loss of the opportunity to qualify for the semi-finals. We were also hoping to make our loyal fans happy,” said Safri.

“In general, I can say that the next match will be better. If we want to describe our performance in a nutshell, we find that we have presented distinct levels and reached a balance in all departments and the level is joyful for the fans. But we, the technical staff, aspire to be better with the result and performance,” he added.
