Doha: The Planning and Statistics Authority issued the monthly Statistics of Building Permits and Building Completion certificates issued by all municipalities, which showed that Al Rayyan municipality topped the number of building permits issued in December with 186 permits, i.e. 28 percent of the total issued permits.
The data revealed that the municipality of Al Wakrah came in second place with 169 permits, i.e. 25 percent, followed by Doha municipality of with 111 permits, i.e. 17 percent, then municipality of Al Da'ayen with 100 permits, i.e.15 percent. The rest of the municipalities were as follows: Umm Salal 45 permits (7 percent), Al Khor 28 permits (4 percent), Al Sheehaniya 23 permits (3 percent), and finally Al Shammal 10 permits (1 percent).
In terms of type of permits issued, data indicates that the new building permits (residential and non-residential) constitutes 55 percent (367 permits) of the total building permits issued during the month of December 2021, while the percentage of additions permits constituted 42 percent (279 permits), and finally fencing permits with 4 percent (26 permits).
By analyzing new residential buildings permits data, we find that villas' top the list, accounting for 69 percent (166 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by dwellings of housing loans permits by 19 percent (46 permits) and apartments buildings by 10 percent (25 permits).
On the other hand, commercial buildings were found to be in the forefront of non-residential buildings permits with 71 percent (90 permits), followed by industrial buildings e.g., workshops and factories with 14 percent (18 permits) , then governmental buildings with 6 percent (8 certificates).
Comparing number of permits issued in December 2021 with those issued in the previous month we noted a general decrease of 16 percent. The decrease was noted in most of the municipalities: Um Slal (43 percent), Al Da'ayen (42 percent), Al Shammal (33 percent), Doha and Al Khor (15 percent each municipality), Al Rayyan (10 percent), On the other hand, there was a clear increase in the municipality of Al Sheehaniya (44 percent), and Al Wakrah (12 percent).
Regarding Building Completion Certificates issued in December, Doha municipality led the number of building completion certificates issued with 69 certificates i.e. (23 percent) of the total issued certificates.
The municipality of Al Rayyan came in second place with 68 certificates, i.e. (23 percent), followed by municipality of Al Wakrah with 60 certificates (20 percent), then municipality of Al Da'ayen with 55 certificates, i.e.18 percent. The rest of the municipalities were as follows: Um Slal 30 certificates 10 percent, Al Khor 8 certificates (3 percent), Al Shammal 7 certificates (2 percent), Al Sheehaniya 1 certificate 0.3 percent.
In terms of type of certificates issued, data indicates that the new building completion certificates (residential and non-residential) constitutes 63 percent (188 certificates) of the total building certificates issued during the month of December 2021, while the percentage of additions certificates constituted 37 percent (110 certificates).
By analyzing new residential buildings completion certificates data, we find that villas' top the list, accounting for 81 percent (128 certificates) of all new residential buildings completion certificates, followed by dwellings of housing loans certificates by 13 percent (21 certificates), then apartments buildings by 6 percent (10 certificates).
On the other hand, commercial buildings were found to be in the forefront of non-residential buildings completion certificates with 79 percent (23 certificates), followed by industrial buildings e.g., workshops and factories with 10 percent (3 certificates), then mosques with 7 percent (2 certificates).
Comparing number of certificates issued in December 2021 with those issued in the previous month we noted a general decrease of 13 percent. This decrease was clearly noted in most of the municipalities: Al Sheehaniya (88 percent), Al Khor (43 percent), Al Da'ayen (26 percent), Al Shammal (22 percent), Al Rayyan (18 percent), Al Wakrah (14 percent), On the other hand, there was a clear increase in the municipality of Um Slal (36 percent), Doha (11 percent).
