Doha: The number of building permits issued in November by municipalities in Qatar has increased by 17 percent to 802, compared to the previous month, data released by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) show.
The PSA in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality released the 83rd issue of the monthly Statistics of Building Permits and Building Completion certificates issued by all municipalities in the country.
According to their geographical distribution, the municipality of Al Rayyan topped the list of municipalities with 206 building permits issued (26 percent of total issued permits), while the municipality of Al Da’ayen came in second place with 171 permits (21 percent), followed by the municipalities of Al Wakrah with 151 permits (19 percent), and Al Doha with 131 permits (16 percent).
The rest of the municipalities were: Umm Salal with 79 permits (10 percent), Al Khor with 33 permits (4 percent), Al Sheehaniya with 16 permits (2 percent), and Al Shammal with 15 permits (2 percent).
In terms of type of permits issued, data indicated that the new building permits (residential and non-residential) constitute 53 percent (428 permits) of the total building permits issued in November 2021, while the percentage of additions permits stood at 44 percent (356 permits), and fencing permits with 2 percent (18 permits).
In November, the increase in building permits issued was noted in the municipalities of Al Da’ayen (53 percent), Um Slal (32 percent), Al Doha (27 percent), and Al Rayyan (22 percent). On the other hand, a decrease was noted in the municipalities of Al Wakrah and Al Shammal (6 percent each), Al Khor (18 percent), and Al Sheehaniya (33 percent).
By analysing new residential buildings permits data, it was found that villas topped the list, accounting for 71 percent (228 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by dwellings of housing loans permits by 15 percent (49 permits) and apartments buildings by 12 percent (40 permits).
On the other hand, commercial buildings were found to be in the forefront of non-residential buildings permits accounting for 72 percent (76 permits), followed by industrial buildings such as workshops and factories with 12 percent (13 permits), and governmental buildings with 10 percent (11 certificates).
In terms of building completion certificates issued in November 2021, Al Rayyan municipality topped the list with 83 certificates issued (24 percent of total issued certificates), while the municipality of Al Da’ayen came in second place with 74 certificates (22 percent), followed by the municipalities of Al Wakrah with 70 certificates (20 percent), and Al Doha with 62 certificates (18 percent).
The rest of the municipalities were: Um Slal with 22 certificates (6 percent), Al Khor with 14 certificates (4 percent), Al Shammal with 9 certificates (3 percent), and Al Sheehaniya with 8 certificates (2 percent).
In terms of type of certificates issued, data indicated that the new building completion certificates (residential and non-residential) constitute 64 percent (220 certificates) of the total building certificates issued in November 2021, while the percentage of additions certificates stood at 36 percent (122 certificates).
