Oualla seals Medium Tour honours in Round 2

Achraf Oualla (Dino BB Z) and  Mohammed Nasser Al Qadi (Vlacido) clinched individual honours while The Top secured the Medium Tour team  honours as the second round of the Longines Hathab Equestrian Tour unfolded at the Al Shaqab Indoor Arena yesterday.

Oualla guided Dino BB Z in an errorless ride to win the Medium Tour category as the eight-year-old bay stallion completed the round in 29.87 secs. Oualla won the top prize of the day, worth QR5,000.

Belucci Van ‘T Vleminkhof, with popular Qatari rider Hussain Saeed Haidan in the saddle, spent 30.14 secs to complete the same task as he won the second place which also came with a prize cheque for QR4,000.

Ambre De Beaufour, ridden by Mohammad Hazim Abara, came third in 32.75 secs as the rider got richer by QR3,000.

In the team event, The Top, which had the services of Hussain Saeed Haidan (Belucci Van ‘T Vleminkhof), Faleh Suwead Al Ajami (Quick Step) and Mohammad Hazim Abara (Ambre De Beaufour), clocked a collective time of 145.41 secs before completing the jump off in 30.14 secs to secure the victory. They bagged QR 20,000 in prize money. ExxonMobil won the second place ahead of third placed QEF.

Earlier, in Small Tour, Mohammed Nasser Al Qadi clinched his second win in a row when he steered Vlacido in a flawless routine. Al Qadi who won the Small Tour in the first round of the Tour last moth, completed the round in 32.47 secs to win QR2,500 in prize money.

Jalieny Diamant Z, ridden by Abdulaziz Ghanim Al Nuaimi, completed the same task in 32.94 secs to grab the second place ahead of Mohammed Sultan Al Suwaidi who completed the podium with a ride that lasted for 33.43 secs on Birddyz.

Al Nuaimi bagged a prize cheque worth QR2,000 while Al Suwaidi got richer by QR1,500.

Today, the riders will battle for honours in the Dressage, Open Class and Big Tour.

The annual equestrian series is organised and jointly hosted by Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) and Al Shaqab.
