QSE index closes at 10,368.17 points

DOHA: Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) benchmark index gained 87.21 points, or 0.85 percent, last week when the bourse closed yesterday at 10,368.17 points.

Trading value during last week increased by 11.26 percent to reach QR1.10bn compared to QR994.14m.

Trading volume increased by 14.06 percent to reach 29.17 million shares, as against 25.58 million shares, while the number of transactions rose by 30.84 percent, to reach 19,972 transactions as compared to 15,264 transactions.

Market cap rose by 0.51 percent to reach QR581.45bn as compared to QR578.52bn at the end of previous week.

The Banking and Financial Services sector led trading value during last week 44.3 percent of the total trading value. Industrials sector accounted for 16.10 percent. The Real Estate sector accounted for 13.99 percent, and Consumer Goods and Services sector, which accounted for 79.10 percent.

The Banking and Financial Services sector led trading volume during last week with 32.58 percent of the total trading volume. Real Estate sector, which accounted for 26.49 percent. The Industrials sector accounted for 13.90 percent, and finally followed by Telecoms sector, which accounted for 49.12.percent.

The Banking and Financial Services sector led trading number of transactions last week with 33.52 percent of the total number of transactions. Real Estate sector accounted for 17.42 percent. The Industrials sector accounted for 17.28 percent, and Telecoms sector, which accounted for 11.89 percent.

Out of the 45 listed companies 20 ended last week higher, while 24 fell and 1 company remained unchanged.

The QNB led trading value last week with 21.37 percent of the total trading value. Barwa Real Estate accounting for 8.99 percent. The Industries Qatar accounting for 7.99 percent, reports QNA.

When compared on daily basis, the QSE index gained 115.67 points, or 1.13 percent, yesterday compared to Wednesday’s closing.

The volume of shares traded increased to 5,909,884 from 4,966,856 on Wednesday and the value of shares increased to QR259.23m from QR173.31m on Wednesday.

From the 47 companies listed on QSE, shares of 46 saw trading yesterday. From these, 27 companies gained, 122 closed lower and remained seven companies unchanged.

Indices of all sector ended in green zone today. QSE Total Return Index increased 1.13 percent to 18,267.56 points and QSE Al Rayan Islamic Index gained 0.74 percent to 3,929.28 points.
