The national authority warned that unknown links promising heavily discounted vacation deals or promotional packages could harbor malicious software or direct users to fraudulent websites created to steal sensitive personal data.
The official reminder highlighted a recurring cyber threat as fraudsters leverage popular messaging platforms to distribute tempting holiday offers.
According to security experts, these cyber scams often spike during peak travel planning periods when individuals are actively seeking affordable flights and accommodation packages.
Clicking on such suspicious links can expose mobile devices to dangerous malware or trick users into entering confidential credentials on spoofed booking platforms designed to closely replicate legitimate travel agencies.
To mitigate the risk of financial loss and digital identity theft, the NCSA advised the public to exercise caution and immediately disregard unrealistic or overly generous offers sent from unfamiliar numbers.
