MOCI reports 81 violations in July after inspection campaigns

Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry recorded 81 violations during the month of July 2021 following intensive inspection campaign. 

The campaign monitored the extent to which suppliers and commercial stores comply with their obligations stipulated in the laws and ministerial decisions concerned with consumer protection.

The 81 violations were as follows:

Failure to announce prices: 6
Failure to announce prices in a clear manner: 1 
Failure to comply with the prices of the compulsory bulletin of vegetables and fruits: 5 
Failure to guarantee the service that he performed during a period of time commensurate with the nature of that service and returning the amount paid by the recipient of the service or performing it again in the correct manner: 17
Non-compliance to return the commodity with refund or exchange of its value: 1
Non-compliance with the implementation of all guarantees related to the commodity: 2
Non-compliance with commitment to write down all explanatory data related to the commodity: 1 
Failure to comply with the conditions related to public health and safety: 2
Failure to adhere to the advertising format of the promotional offer approved by the Administration: 2 
Failure to clearly define service data, features, characteristics and prices: 1
Not issuing invoices in the Arabic language: 5
Not issuing invoices with full data: 2
Making a promotional offer without obtaining the license necessary from the competent department: 6
Making discounts without obtaining the necessary license from the competent department: 4
Charging a price higher than the price that was announced for products that have expired: 2 
An increase in service prices without obtaining the necessary license from the competent authority: 19
To stop completing the promotional campaign before its expiry date without the department’s approval: 4
Overcharging discontinued products: 1

The authorities concerned with consumer protection in the Ministry also received a number of complaints, and they were dealt with and the necessary measures were taken towards solving them.
