Geneva: Qatar’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology H E Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai held a series of bilateral meetings yesterday with ministers and heads of international organisations on the sidelines of the Global Dialogue on AI Governance, currently underway in Geneva.
His Excellency met with Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia H E Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al Swaha, Minister for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation of the Federal Republic of Germany H E Dr. Karsten Wildberger, and Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence of the Republic of Lebanon H E Dr. Kamal Shehadeh.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
The Minister also held meetings with Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Estonia H E Liisa-Ly Pakosta, Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation of the Republic of Ireland H E Niamh Smyth, and Minister for Digital Development and Information of the Republic of Singapore H E Josephine Teo. The meetings reviewed best practices in digital government and the development of e-government services, and explored opportunities for cooperation in the digital economy and artificial intelligence.
Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai also met with Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) H E Doreen Bogdan-Martin to discuss cooperation in support of international efforts to advance the governance of digital technologies. He also met with UN Special Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies H E Amandeep Singh Gill to review the latest developments in AI governance and emerging technologies.
Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office at Geneva H E Dr. Hend Abdulrahman Al Muftah attended the meetings.
