Beijing: Five people have been rescued while nine others are still missing after a landslide hit a highway construction site in central China's Hubei Province, local authorities said Sunday.
According to a statement issued today by the province, the landslide of more than 500,000 cubic meters struck the construction site in Yueshan Village, Tujia Autonomous County of Wufeng on Saturday, China's Xinhua News Agency reported.
As on Sunday, a total of five people had been rescued and Rescue operations are underway, according to the statement.
On July 1, six people were killed in a landslide caused by heavy rains in southwestern China.
