Doha: Deputy Emir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Qatar University, presided over the second meeting of the Board for the academic year 2017-2018 at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.
At the outset of the meeting, the Board reviewed the implementation of its decisions and recommendations adopted in the first meeting of the academic year 2017-2018. The Board discussed the topics listed on its agenda. It approved the University Calendar for the next three years (2017-2018), (2018-2019), (2019-2020), as well as amendments to the organisational structure of Qatar University.
The Board also approved the introduction of a number of master’s and doctorate programs as follows: Master’s Program in Genetic Counseling, Master’s Program in Religions and Dialogue of Civilizations, and Joint Doctoral Program in Health Sciences (Biomedical Sciences, Medical Sciences or Pharmaceutical Sciences), and Doctoral Program in Fiqh and Principles of Jurisprudence. The Board approved the creation of three sections of the Faculty of Law: Private Law, General Law, and Legal Skills.
