Doha: Qatar international all-rounder Muhammad Tanveer piloted Asian Club to an exciting one-wicket victory over Commercial Bank Qatar with his unbeaten hundred in a Premier Division match at the popular Qatar Airways Cricket Tournament and kept his team in contention for a semi-final slot.

Qatar Airways is proud to be the official sponsor of the annual cricket tournament. As the country’s national carrier, Qatar Airways continues to play a vital role in enhancing the already flourishing sports activity in Qatar and is a keen supporter for developing the next generation of cricket players in the country.

Tanveer nailed three wickets for 34 and Omran got two for 24 to restrict CBQ at 209 for seven in 50 overs. Hussain struck two sixes and as many fours in a team’s high 59 and Zaheer smashed half a dozen fours to get 46. Sajjad added 26.

Then all-rounder Tanveer held on to one end and blasted 109 not out off 104 balls to see his team in 37.1 overs. His century was dotted with four huge sixes and 11 boundaries. Jassim also contributed a useful 32 with two sixes and two fours.

Imraz Rafi cracked his second century of the season to inspire defending champions Warriors Club to rout Galfar Al Misnad by 156 runs. He had rifled 199 against Firox Club last month as well.

Rafi’s knock with seven sixes and five fours boosted Warriors Club to a massive 317 for seven. Qatar skipper Iqbal Hussain Choudhry hit three sixes and four boundaries to record a fine 50 off 40 balls. Mujeeb remained unbeaten on 51 with a six and five fours. Rafi and Mujeeb mustered 109 runs for the sixth wicket as the biggest stand for his team.

Galfar Al Misnad failed to handle the run pressure and could reply with 161 for nine in 33 overs. Himanshu, who hit seven fours in 51, and Asim made 27 with four boundaries. Together, the two realised 41 runs in the third wicket stand, which was broken by Mujeeb. Ahmad Rasool made 21.

Mujeeb returned figures of three for 28 and Awais dismissed two players for 36. Rafi was aptly declared the player of the match. This was the fifth triumph in a row for Warriors.

In the third fixture, Tusker Club crushed Bangla Seniors by eight wickets as Saleh nabbed four wickets for 29, while Zainuddin and Akash Babu shared four scalps. Halim was the highest scorer with 31 in 59 balls, including five fours.

Akash Babu then returned to the crease to smash an unbeaten 62 in 41 balls. His knock had two sixes and seven fours. With Prem Sagar, he added 46 runs for the unbroken third wicket to take the team home in 13.3 overs.
