Doha: In a fun and festive event full of prizes and surprises, Qatar Golf Lovers (QGL), Qatar’s oldest and largest Golf Society, hosted its year-ending 197th Golf Tournament last weekend at the Doha Golf Club.
Evergreen Couple Fazal and Tasnim Kazi teamed up to emerge victorious with a score of 30 in a tournament played on “Better Ball (pairs)” format.
Snapping at their heels were a pair of Bengal Tigers Dr Amitava Mitra & Kanchan Ghoshal, who finished Runners-up with a score of 31 on countback.
Chief Guest, Salim Kutty and QGL Vice President Sanjay Jain gave away special prizes to Rukkaiyya Pachisa for “Nearest to Pin (ladies)”, Cherehzade Pedder for “Longest Drive (ladies)”, Adrian Lobley for “Nearest to Pin on the Second Shot”, Saad Kazi for “Longest Drive (mens)”, Arnav Jain for “Nearest to Pin (mens)”, PK Viswanath for “Closest to the Rope”, and Sheji Valiyakath for “Longest Putt”.
QGL hosted a prize distribution dinner sponsored by Salim Kutty of Saad Trading Company.
The highlight of the evening was an award for the “Most Outrageous Golf Outfit” which was shared by young couple Saad and Shazia Kazi.
QGL President Manoj Megchiani welcomed new member Justin Golfsack, and bid farewell to a long standing member of 8 years Adrian Lobley to the accompaniment of Scottish bagpiper music. QGL 198 is scheduled for January 8, 2021 and those interested may inquire on QGL website MYQGL.COM
