Qatar play Lebanon tomorrow while Oman will meet Iraq, who will finish ahead of the hosts with a win, setting the stage for a thrilling final day.
Qatar went into the tie at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex knowing they had to defeat Oman, with the home side sitting two points clear at the top.
Oman, who had defeated Lebanon and Bahrain in their earlier matches, started on the front foot and took the lead in the seventh minute through Al Haitham Musallam Al Shekaily.
It was an advantage Oman took into the break but a revitalised Qatar - who defeated Iraq and drew with Bahrain in their earlier matches - took the match to their opponents in the second half.
They drew level through Adel Eid in the 55th minute.
The equaliser shifted the momentum in Qatar’s favour and Eid ensured his side would go into the final matchday in pole position with the winning goal in the 85th minute.
