Qatar Academy Doha (QAD) opens the academic year with unprecedented growth in student population, faculty numbers and campus expansion. In his first message of the year to the QAD community, Director Dr Eric Sands shared: “We have a very robust enrolment this year with 1800 students, 193 new students and 79 new faculty members across our four divisions: High School, Middle School, Primary School and Early Education Centers.” Over 30 facility improvement projects are also being undertaken to support this growth.
Preparations for the incoming school year began with the arrival of the new teachers and their families in August. The two-week orientation programme was packed full of activities and informative sessions all organised to help them settle and adjust to their new lives in Doha. As members of the larger Education City community, the new intakes were also given the opportunity to meet teachers from the other centers under the office of Pre-University Education (PUE) through a welcome luncheon organised earlier last week. This was followed by a visit from Qatar Foundation’s Associate Vice President for Education Buthaina Al Nuaimi who personally toured every centre to share PUE’s vision and high level strategic plan for the next decade.
Parents and students were welcomed into the campus and provided with the necessary information and tools so that they can begin the school year fully equipped to succeed academically and thrive in the community. “It is an honour and privilege to be working with your children throughout the 2014-2015 academic year,” Dr Sands added.
