Doha: Pakistan Association Qatar (PAQ) recently organised an event to present the ‘life achievement awards’ to three prominent personalities. The event was followed by the Urdu poetry symposium at Sapphire Plaza Hotel Doha.
The event consisted of two sessions; one was the award ceremony and the other was a poetry session. The program was presided over by the renowned Urdu poet Farhat Abbas Shah.
Welfare Attaché Pakistan Embassy Hafiz Junaid Sial and PAQ patron Tajjamul Aftab Cheema were the Chief guests, Mohammad Sabih Bukhari, Director Satco group and Chaudary Mohammad Ajmal Pakistani Community leader were the Guests of Honour. The Program was commenced by invoking Holy verses from the Holy Quran by Qari Saif ur Rahman.
Chairman PAQ Syed Faheem Uddin welcomed guests and audiences. Shaukat Ali Naz, Murad Ali and Tahir Jamil introduced the winners, Sabeeh Bukhari, Farhat Abbas and Chaudhary Ajmal respectively.
Chief Guest Hafiz Junaid sial presented the awards and shields to the winners in the presence of Qatar’s prominent personalities Idress Anwar, Abdul Hai, Habibun Nabi and Riaz Bakali. In this event PAQ Annual magazine and monthly Newsletter were also launched.
The Chief Guest Junaid Sial congratulated PAQ team for organising a very enlightening and a successful program and assured all possible help from the Embassy. He said that transfer of Urdu culture to the new generation is highly recommended. He also congratulated the winners of ‘life achievement awards’.
Sabeeh Bukhari said, “I am proud of receiving life achievement award for promotion of Art, Culture, Urdu language and other services, internationally by Pakistan Association Qatar PAQ, an organisation to promote Urdu and youth activities an array of activities at social cultural nature.
“Urdu without doubts, is a language without borders”. Ajmal Chaudhary showed his gratitude for recognition of his community services, Chaudhary dedicated his award to the PWF founding members Idress Anwar and Riaz Bakali.
The second session was of Poetry symposium ‘Mushaira’.
Seven poets from outside Qatar and Nine local poets presented their poetic couplets, Guest poets were: Farhat Abbas Shah, Raseeda Maheen, Tauqeer Ahmed Shareefi, Dr saeed Iqbal Saadi, Mumtaz Rashid Lahori, Zaheer Mushtaq, Syed Zia Hussain while local poets were; Shafeeq Akhtar, Shaukat Ali Naz, Faheem Uddin, Ijaz Haidar, Ashfaque Deshmukh, Mansoor Azami, Asif Shafi, Tahir Jamil and Shahid Naz. Syed Farhat Abbas presented his classic Ghazals, which were received with applause.
Farhat Abbas expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing activities of PAQ under the leadership of Syed Faheem Uddin.
