Qatar’s Al Sadd said that Salem Al Hajri will be on the sidelines until the end of the season following his injury on Thursday in his side 3-1 victory over Al Kharaitiyat in the round of 16 of the Amir Cup.

The player’s initial tests confirmed that he had a cut in the Achilles tendon. Al Hajri underwent successful surgery at the Aspetar Hospital yesterday.

Salem could not complete the match and left the stadium directly to the hospital. The player will miss the remaining of the season, as the Achilles tendon injury requires at least six months of treatment and rehabilitation, which means that Al Hajri’s season has ended.

Salem Al Hajri stressed that he will return stronger, adding that the football player is always exposed to such injuries.

The Qatari international said the injury occurred on the field without friction from any player from Al Kharaitiyat.
