Feared Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah yesterday struck thrice in nine minutes to score four goals as Al Sadd crushed Al Sailya 8-0 in their QNB Stars League match.
Bounedjah, who opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, added three more late in the second half (80, 86 and 89) as points leaders Al Sadd created further gap at the top with a commanding show at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. Korean international Nam-tae Hee (36th and 54th minute) fired a brace while Ali Asadalla (50th minute) and Santiago Cazorla (61st minute) also scored the goals for Al Sadd who remain at the top with 35 points. Yesterday’s clash was the return clash for both sides as teams launched the second phase of the 22-round league. In the first leg, Al Sadd posted a 5-1 win and yesterday Xavi’s boys in all-white looked in little bother to remain unbeaten.
Last week, Al Sadd beat Al Kharaitiyat 5-0. Earlier in round 5, Al Sadd had pummelled Al Ahli 7-1. Al Sadd, looking set to maintain their ruthless scoring form, kicked off the season with 5-1 score-line wins in the first two matches. Both sides looked to attack from the start of the Round 13 clash. Veteran striker Rodrigo Tabata, after receiving a long cross from his half of the pitch, settled in front of the Al Sailiya box and fired a powerful shot that was parried away by keeper Lacoumet Amin in the 7th minute. Al Sailiya also produced a similar threatening move when Abdulqadir Adam – under pressure from Pedro near his own box – used his toe end to send a curling shot towards Al Sadd keeper Meshaal Barsham five minutes later. In another quality move, Abdulqadir Adam backheeled a short cross to Mohammed Rajeb stationed with open space to shoot near the Al Sadd box. The tall Al Sailiya striker – after a couple of steps forward - drilled a left-footed shot that sailed past the goalpost to the right of keeper Barsham. A few seconds later in the 17th minute, Al Sadd’s Nam tae-hee – after a short tap from Bounedjah – fired a top shot that narrowly sailed past the left Al Sailiya goalpost. However, Al Sadd soon opened the scoring after a keeper’s fumble in the 23rd minute
. Al Sadd’s Asadallah charged into the Al Sailiya box and quickly slipped in a low show – between the legs of Mostafa Ihamid - to the right of keeper Amin who reached the ball with relative eased but fumbled with his collection and lost control. The loose ball popped and landed near ever-alert Bounedjah who wasted no time and fired a right-footed shot into the net from close range. In the 34th minute, Cazorla found good pace and angle on his powerful shot from the edge of the box but Al Sailya keeper Amin did well to parry the ball away. Amin, however, could do little when Al Sadd strike force combined well to find the net in the 36th minute. Bounedjah – after receiving a cross while being stationed on the edge of the Al Sailiya box - found Tae-hee with a neat short cross.
The Korean international arrived with slick pace to deflect the ball with his left foot from close range with only keeper Amin to beat. Al Sadd carried their momentum into second half when Asadallah showed little slackness to score the third goal for the Amir Cup champions. Bounedjah headed the ball off a corner kick but the deflection hit the Al Sailiya crossbar. The ball bounced back into play and Asadalla slipped in a shot from close range in the 50th minute. Bounedjah showing great form assisted once again for the fourth goal picking out Tae-hee inside the box. The Korean star drilled the ball into the net from close range for Al Sadd’s in the 54th minute. Six minutes later, Al Sadd jumped to a 5-0 cushion when Cazorla expertly deflected a left-footed shot to the right of keeper Amin. In the 65th minute, Hassan Al Haydos also found the net for Al Sadd but his effort was declared off-side. To round off a convincing win, Al Sadd’s Bounedjah fired a shot from the edge of the box to the left of keeper Amin for his second of the match and Al Sadd’s sixth goal of the evening.
Four minutes from time, Bounedjah deflected a cross into the net for his hat-trick and Al Sadd’s seventh goal and then drilled one more past keeper Amin for his fourth of the evening in the 89th minute. Meanwhile, Abdulaziz Hatem scored two goals (4' and 45+3') in the first half as Al Rayyan edged Al Gharafa 2-1 at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium yesterday. Jonathan Kodjia scored for Al Gharafa on a 42nd minute penalty. Al Rayyan secured their sixth spot with 19 points. Also yesterday at Qatar SC Stadium, hosts Qatar SC defeated Al Kharaitiyat 3-1 to jump to third position with 23 points. Mohammed Salam's own goal gave Qatar SC lead which was extended by Youcef Belaili (51') and Hamid Ismail (63'). Evans Mensah earned a consolation goal for Al Kharaitiyat in 88th minute.
