BPS hosts Founder’s Day

The cold evening of December 4 witnessed the first day events of the 11th Founder’s Day of Birla Public School. Apart from the Chief Guests, Chairman C V Rappai, Vice Chairman Lukose Chacko, First Chairman Dr Mohan Thomas and Director Gope Shahani attended the function. The Principal A K Shrivasthava presented the school’s Annual Report. This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony where the students who had achieved CGPA Perfect Ten in Class X Examinations were awarded with a certificate and medal by Sheikh Saoud bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani. 
The Patron of the Institution, Sheikh Saoud addressed the assembly appreciating the achievements of the school both in academics and non-academic fields. The Chief Guest of the day, Dr Saif Ali Al Hajari, Chairman, Friends of the Environment Centre, shared his views on how education is a bridge to real life proving that this institution is not merely a school but a family. The Guest of Honour was Dr Faryal Khan, Programme Specialist for Education at Unesco, Doha Office. 


The cultural extravaganza by the students from KG to Class II of CBSE  and Classes I to XI of CBSE-I began with a Symphony presented by the tiny toddlers of KG I and KG II. The students of KG I and KG II came on to the stage presenting the programme Diamond Divas. The children of Grade I performed two different kinds of dances named Kaliyarangu, based on the folk dances of Kerala and Dazzling Stars based on the colour scheme of nature.
Students of the International Curriculum performed a variety of programme which began with a choir named Melody Makers. Mystic Movers, a ball room dance, Dance the Elixir of Life capturing Rhythm of Indonesia excited the audience. A short drama, Anger Blinds the Angel Within invited the audience to rethink and reevaluate the rigid rules of the modern society. A multifaceted dance drama, Legend of Sri Lanka portrayed the culture of Sri Lanka. 
The festivities of the first day came to a conclusion with the vote of thanks delivered by Shireen Ahmed, Head Prefect Girl of CBSE (i). The programme was compered by Krishnadev Vijaykumar of Class XI(i), Steen Mavesh of Class IX(i), Ayisha Yoonus and Akshaya Karthikeyan of Class X(i) and Neha Riyas of Class VIII(i) guided by teachers Lakshmi Ajit, Thahmeena Afreen and Shilpa Sathyanarayanan.

 Second Day
On the second day of the function the Chief Guest of the day was Curt Schafer, Consultant, VP of Student Affairs, Qatar University.  
The Guest of Honour Dinesh Udenia, The First Secretary, Embassy of India congratulated the staff on their dedication and the students on their achievements in various competitions.  In his key note address R K Dalmia, Member of the Governing Council of Birla Education Centre, emphasized the role of teachers in nurturing revolutionary ideas in children. Chairman C V Rappai spoke on the growth of the institution and the contribution the staff and students had made for it. 
The students who had achieved meritorious results in the class 12 and 10 Board examinations 2014 were awarded gold medals and certificates. 
Pusphanjali, a classical dance show depicting the integral culture and heritage of India, performed by the girls of grades 6, 7 and 8 received roaring applause from the audience.
Rhythmic Rhapsodies, the last show of the evening, showcased the singing talent of the students cutting across all the grades and was dubbed the grand finale of the evening.
