Doha, Qatar: The Government Procurement Plan Forum 2026 will witness participation of over 16 government entities. The forum is considered a strategic platform aimed at enhancing collaboration between government entities and local companies, while providing an enabling environment for economic growth and technological development within the procurement sector.
The Ministry of Finance represented by the Government Procurement Regulatory Department in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Qatar Chamber announced yesterday during a press conference the launch of the Government Procurement Plan Forum 2026 to be held from October 20 to 22 under the slogan: ‘One Vision, Multiple Opportunities’ .
Addressing the event, Director of the Government Procurement Regulation Department at the Ministry of Finance, Nayef Al-Hababi, pointed out six themes that the forum will focus in its third edition: the government procurement plan for 2026, enhancing local value, supporting national companies and factories, empowering small and medium-sized enterprises, modernising the classification system for materials and economic activities, and ensuring fairness in resolving disputes related to government tenders and contracts.
Al-Hababi noted that the Government Procurement Plan Forum 2026 represents a platform for providing opportunities, stimulating innovation, and establishing the principles of transparency and fairness, ensuring sustainable economic growth and promoting equal opportunities among companies.
He pointed out that 16 government entities will present their detailed procurement plans for 2026 during the three-day forum with dedicated pavilions.
The year 2025 witnessed the awarding of many contracts to local companies with a total value of up to QR14bn and local companies represent 82% of the total government procurements. Contracts were also signed for pharmaceutical materials, medical consumables, and supplies with a number of national factories, Al-Hababi said. He added, contracts for the supply of pharmaceutical materials and medical supplies were signed with national factories.
Regarding the support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Al-Hababi explained that the Ministry of Finance pays great attention to these companies through a package of facilities and exemptions that enable them to enter the government procurement market without significant financial burdens. He stated that this category of companies participated in more than 11,500 tenders during the recent period.
During the event workshops will explore key themes such as procurement policies and legislation, digital transformation, and company classification.
In addition, updates related to the In-Country Value (ICV) framework for 2026 will be presented. Panel discussions will address issues including support for small and medium-sized enterprises, cost-saving opportunities, competitiveness enhancement, investment potential, promotion of local products.
The Government Procurement Regulatory Department at the Ministry of Finance invites all companies, entrepreneurs, and interested parties to take part in the third edition of the Forum.
The event offers a unique opportunity to gain direct insight into the government’s procurement plans for 2026 and to explore available opportunities for building future partnerships and participating competitively in the national procurement market.
The previous edition of the Forum attracted more than 2,000 participants from the local community, including entrepreneurs, investors, and representatives of companies of various sizes.
Over 980 representatives from across the economic spectrum took part, contributing to the creation of an ideal environment for communication and partnership-building.
The diversity of participation spanned several key sectors, including manufacturing, services, construction, construction technology, hospitality, and other industries.
