DOHA: Turkey’s exports to Qatar have increased by 93 percent in the first eight months of this year, compared to the same period last year. The Turkish Aegean Exporters Association said in a statement yesterday, carried by Anadolu Agency, that Turkish exports to Qatar reached $636m compared to $330m in the same period in 2017.
The mineral sector topped the list of Turkish exports to the State of Qatar during the period from January to August, with a value of $118m, while the electrical and chemical products ranked second with $75m followed by the finished garments sector with a value of $45m, QNA reported.
It is worth noting that the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkey on Tuesday initialed a bilateral economic partnership agreement, aiming at cementing trade exchange and easing restrictions on investments, trade in services and e-commerce in addition to promoting cooperation in customs, education, research and development and capacity building as well as organising exhibitions, forums and economic conferences.
