Doha: The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) is set to delight audiences with a series of special bilingual family concerts featuring Sergei Prokofiev’s beloved symphonic tale, Peter and the Wolf.

The performances, designed to appeal to both Arabic and English-speaking families in Qatar’s diverse community, combine live orchestral music with engaging narration to introduce children and adults alike to the wonders of classical music. The concerts will take place at the Opera House in the Cultural District, Katara, under the leadership of Concertmaster Lyonel Schmit.

Two English-language performances featuring narrator Christoph Schmitz are scheduled for Friday, April 10, 2026, at 4pm and 6pm.

Two Arabic-language performances narrated by Islam El-Hefnawy will follow on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 3pm and 5pm.

In Prokofiev’s 1936 masterpiece, each character is vividly portrayed by a different instrument: the bird by the flute, the duck by the oboe, and the young hero Peter by the strings. This imaginative approach not only brings the story to life but also serves as an entertaining way to familiarise young listeners with the sounds of the orchestra.

These family-oriented events aim to foster greater appreciation for classical music while promoting intercultural understanding through the universal language of orchestral storytelling.

Tickets and further details are available through the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra’s official channels and authorised booking platforms.
