Soufiane Saadi continued his winning form for the second day running as he guided Pazeer to the top spot in the Barzan Cup, the feature race of the day at Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC). On Wednesday, Saadi won Umm Al Houl Cup with X Force.
Yesterday, Saadi was the winner again but this time with Pazeer in the 1600m turf race under lights. Pazeer clocked a time of 1:35.24 as the Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki-trained entry impressed with his speed. Saadi won the top prize of QR142,500.
Luca Maniezzi, astride Dominus, finished in second spot while JP Guillambert, who was riding with Alignement, secured the third spot. Maniezzi won QR 55,000 while Guillambert got richer by QR 27,500. In the second last race of the day, Al Lusail, who had Ronan Thomas in the saddle, topped the 2000m marathon.
Trained by Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani, Al Lusail clocked 2:04.37 as Thomas won QR 57,000. Tomas Lukasek, astride Shaman Bu Thaila, finished in second place while Saleh Salem Al Marri (Abu Samrah) grabbed the third spot. Lukasek won QR 22,000 while Al Marri got his owner QR 11,000.
In the Umm Salal Oaks Trial, an 1850m marathon, Julian Smart-trained Mon'nia clinched the top issue with jockey Lukasek in the saddle. Mon'nia clocked 1:59.67 as Lukasek won QR 57,000. Guillambert and Arguya finished in second spot. Guillambert picked up QR22,000. Saadi, who was riding with Alghaf, finished in third place worth QR 11,000.
