DOHA: Qatar’s Sarah Ghulam Mohammad won the bronze medal at the 8th Asian Shotgun Championships in Kuwait yesterday.
Sarah finished behind Thailand’s Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit and Kazakhstan’s Assem Orynbay who won the gold and silver medals respectively at the Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex.
Sarah shot down 37 clay pigeons in the medal round of the women’s skeet event.
The Thai shooter shot down 54 targets to emerge on top while Aseem brought down 46 targets.
Following her podium win yesterday, Sarah said that competing against the top shooters in Asia motivated her to achieve good results.
She also promised to do her best during the upcoming events. Her next competition will be the 14th Arab Championship which will be held in Doha from 16 to 26 of this month.
Meanwhile, the Qatari national team will be in action in the Team Skeet event today. The team which includes Saeed Abu Rashab, Masoud Saleh and Rashid Saleh, will participate in the second round of the tournament.
More than 600 shooters from 35 countries are taking part in the championship which will conclude on November 11.
