Doha: The General Authority of Customs (GAC) continued to receive requests for commercial companies to join the authorized economic operator program, which aims to develop partnership and cooperation relations between the authority and the private sector, and to grant facilities and benefits to the parties participating in the supply chain in international trade that meets a range of conditions and requirements and internationally accredited safety and security standards.
The General Authority of Customs opened the door to companies wishing to join the program, by reviewing the conditions and standards on the authority’s website. Companies can also coordinate with the authority’s Operations Management and Risk Analysis Department to find additional details related to the companies’ work specialization.
The facilities provided to companies joining the authorized economic operator program include reducing customs restrictions, inspection procedures and checks on shipments, speedy release of incoming and outgoing goods to these companies, and other facilities specified by the authority based on the activity of each company and the quality of its previous procedures with customs.
The authority recently obtained a trademark registration certificate for the economic operator program from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, as it seeks during the coming period to attract distinguished commercial companies to join the program, which will have an impact on the speed of introduction of goods and products into the local market and meet the needs of all segments of society, while ensuring the quality and efficiency of these products for local consumption by ensuring that importing companies meet international standards related to import operations.
The authority confirms that the project is considered one of the most important customs projects that are currently being implemented and has made remarkable progress since its launch in 2019. More development and various facilities are being added to the program, to include all components of the supply chain and international trade, in addition to the conclusion of mutual recognition agreements with the commercial partners of the State of Qatar in order to contribute to economic development and provide more support and facilitation services for companies joining the program.
