DOHA:  Qatar Chamber has announced that it would host the Halal Conference & Expo 2020 which aims to showcase Halal products and mechanisms of certifying these products as well as promoting the Halal trade worldwide.

This was revealed during the meetings of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture held in Cairo on 4 March.

QC’s board member Dr Mohamed Gohar Al Mohamed and the Chamber’s Director-General Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi attended the meetings.

The meetings included the 28th board of directors meeting and the 35th General Assembly Meeting of the Islamic Chamber.

During the meeting, Qatar Chamber proposed to host and organise the 2020 edition of the Halal Conference and Expo.

The Qatari proposal was hailed by representatives of the Islamic Chambers participating in the meeting, who suggested to be held early 2020.

They also agreed on a Qatari proposal on the electronic linking among all chambers members. This would help chambers to know about events and activities of other chambers.

The meetings which were chaired by Sheikh Saleh Kamel reviewed establishing an active platform between chamber members to include investment and commercial opportunities available in member countries during the next year.

They also discussed launching a new website for the Islamic Chamber during the second quarter of the current year as well as establishing a data base in 2020.

The meeting agenda included electing a new bureau, approval the 27th Board of Directors Meeting held in 2018 in Indonesia, and establishing companies between members countries headed by chamber chairs to implement joint projects.
