DOHA: Ooredoo, one of the region’s leading ICT providers, announced yesterday that it will serve as the Official Telecommunication Partner for the Future of Media Leaders Summit, supporting the digital transformation of Qatar’s media companies to enhance audience engagement.

The Future of Media Leaders Summit, that began yesterday and is hosted by Al Jazeera Media Network, is being held under the theme of “Media and Cloud – Limitless Possibilities”.

International speakers, industry experts, and media practitioners will participate in keynotes, panel discussions, roundtables, and workshops to share, inspire, and shape the future of the media industry. Participants will explore how innovative technologies — cloud, cyber-security, and artificial intelligence — will transform the media industry.

Waleed Al Sayed, Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo, said: “Media companies need the cutting-edge solutions to digitally transform, and optimise customer engagement and monetisation. At the Future Media Leaders Summit, we will exchange best practices in how media companies can use emerging technologies to deliver content in new and innovative ways, at any time and on any mobile device”.

In focus will be how digital solutions can enable media organisations and employees to operate in real-time, support innovative multimedia-rich websites and mobile apps, and drive digital engagement with their audiences across social media platforms. In particular, media companies need to examine their digital transformation roadmaps for upcoming mega-events.

“All eyes will be on Qatar for the football championships in 2022, with a need for media companies to deliver more immersive content than ever before. Our state-of-the-art network infrastructure and digital business solutions will help to optimise content, and to enhance Qatar’s standing as one of the world’s leading countries for media innovation,” added Waleed Al Sayed.

“We are thrilled to once again host this industry leading and prestigious event in Doha, Qatar.  In these times of constant change, continuous technological developments and scientific advancements, it’s paramount for Al Jazeera to not only stay current but to lead and define the next wave of media technologies alongside industry partners,” said Mohamed Abuagla, Executive Director (CIO/ CTO), Technology & Operations, Al Jazeera Media Network.

“Al Jazeera has always been a platform for voicing thoughts and sharing ideas; we do that naturally in our award-winning journalism and content; and we are doing that now in the media technology space via this event and other involvement in industry forums”.
