The State of Qatar will participate in the 7th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), which begins tomorrow in the Austrian capital, Vienna.
The five-day conference will discuss a number of issues related to enhancing the implementation of the Convention at the national and international levels, the most important being the prevention of corruption, the mechanism for reviewing the implementation of the Convention, international cooperation against corruption and asset recovery.
Qatar’s delegation to conference is headed by Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority H E Saad bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud. The delegation includes representatives from the Ministry of the Interior, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Audit Bureau and the Ministry of Justice.
The State of Qatar will organise a special high-level event entitled “United Nations Convention against Corruption, Integrity and Transparency Policies and Prevention of Corruption” on the sidelines of the conference, with the aim of highlighting the importance of focusing on the preventive aspect in strengthening national efforts to combat corruption in general and the role of mechanisms for review of international conventions.
The delegation will highlight Qatar’s efforts to promote transparency and integrity at the national, regional and international levels.
The delegation will hold a number of meetings with officials from international organisations and the heads of the concerned national bodies to discuss means of enhancing cooperation between Qatar and these organisations.
