Doha: The Doha Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has organised a session on “Smart Strategies for Mutual Fund Investment” recently. The event was held on virtual platform and saw nearly 100 participants from the ICAI Doha Chapter.
Anupam Roongta, a certified financial planner who was also the speaker during the event, led an insightful and educational session covering various facets and dimension of the investment. He explained the various categories of the funds in great detail and elaborated the concept of “skin-in the game” with relevant examples, and also suggested to avoid certain categories of funds.
Roongta went on to share valuable tips and nuances so as to ensure growth of the portfolio and capital appreciation in an engaging and interesting manner.
During the event, Hemant Kumar Dwivedi, First Secretary (Culture & Education) at the Indian Embassy in Doha, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Doha Chapter of ICAI in conducting professionally useful seminars for members, to add value to their careers, enhance their knowledge, and sharpen their skills. Dwivedi also enlightened the audience about various areas in which the Indian Embassy is providing its guidance to the chapter activities and to the larger Indian community in Qatar. Addressing the participants, Dwivedi assured the Embassy’s continuous support to the Doha Chapter of ICAI and Chartered Accountants in Qatar.
Earlier, the event was opened by Rakesh Bahety, Excom member who also introduced Nirlep Bhatt, the Chapter chairperson. Dewaki Nandan Tibrewal, excom member, proposed the Vote of Thanks to the Chief Guest, Speaker, Sponsors, and Chapter Members. Attendees also lauded the chapter for organising the event.
The Doha Chapter of ICAI was established in 1981 and is the oldest among the 43 overseas chapters of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. The current membership of the Chapter is approximately 350, who hold key positions in private and public sector establishments in Qatar and are actively involved in support and development of the accounting profession in Qatar. The Chapter is actively involved in enhancing and updating the professional knowledge of its members, local professionals and non-members. Doha Chapter of ICAI is the first professional membership body to be registered with Qatar Financial Centre.
