Qatar’s top squash player Abdullah Al Tamimi won a gold medal as his team finished second in the West Asian Squash Championship in Tehran, Iran, yesterday.

Apart from Tamimi’s gold, Qatar also won a silver and a bronze medal during the Championship. In the team event, Qatari, which included Al Tamimi, Syed Azlan Amjad, Hamad Mohammad Al Amri and Ibrahim Ahmed Al Darwish, defeated Kuwait and Iraq before loosing in the final against Iran.
The bronze medal was won by Amjad, who finished third in the men’s singles.
The Qatari team was coached by Umar Zaman and the manager on tour was Yousuf Salem Al Malki.
