Action during a QFA Cup match between defending champions Al Sailiya and Al Shahania at the Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium on Sunday night. Al Sailiya won the match 4-2. In other matches on the opening day, Al Shamal eased past Al Bidda 3-0 at Al Khor Stadium, while Al Waab edged out Al Wakrah 3-2 at the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium. Sixteen teams from the QNB Stars League and Second Division, divided into four groups, are taking part in the event. Al Sadd, Al Duhail, Al Gharafa and Al Rayyan are not part of the competition due to their participation in the AFC Champions League, which begins in Saudi Arabia from April 7.
