Doha, Qatar: Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry said that at around midday today, March 5, 2026, drone attacks were carried out against its country from Iran.
It said that several drones fired from Iran have hit its territory, one striking a terminal building in Nakhchivan International Airport and another landing near a school building in the village of Shakarabad.
“We strongly condemn these drone attacks carried out from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which resulted in damage to the airport building and injuries to two civilians,” said the foreign ministry in a statement.
The ministry further called on Iran to provide an explanation, stating, "We demand from the Islamic Republic of Iran to provide, within the shortest possible timeframe, a clear explanation regarding the case, conduct an appropriate investigation, and take the necessary urgent measures to ensure that such attacks are not repeated in the future."
