Doha: The Government Communications Office (GCO) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the American Chamber of Commerce Qatar (AmCham) on the sidelines of Web Summit Qatar 2026, the region’s largest and fastest-growing technology event.

Director of the GCO and Chairman of the Permanent Web Summit Organizing Committee H E Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al-Thani and Chairman of AmCham Jay Turk signed the MoU, in the presence of senior officials from Qatar and the United States.

The MoU aims to increase participation of American startups, investors, and decision-makers in Web Summit Qatar and deepen cooperation across international platforms, reinforcing economic and technological collaboration between Qatar and the United States.

In this context, Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al-Thani said the MoU reflects Qatar’s drive to strengthen partnerships with key international institutions to enhance the national business and innovation ecosystems. He added that it opens the door to greater US engagement at the summit and enhanced collaboration in technology and entrepreneurship.

Commenting on the signing, Chairman of AmCham Qatar Jay Turk said: “The signing of today’s MoU marks an important milestone in our collaborative efforts with the GCO. AmCham Qatar looks forward to deepening this partnership and supporting greater engagement between American innovators and Qatar’s growing technology and business ecosystem.”

The MoU is part of a series of agreements signed by

the GCO at Web Summit

Qatar 2026 with prominent international institutions, reinforcing cooperation in innovation and technology and supporting the continued growth of Qatar’s business ecosystem and creative economy.

The agreement stems from discussions initiated during a Runway to Web Summit event organised by the GCO in Washington, DC in November, in collaboration with the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the United States.

The event convened representatives of US tech organizations, investors, entrepreneurs, and startups to strengthen the summit’s international profile and highlight partnership opportunities.
