Qatar attends GCC Commercial Arbitration Center meeting

Doha: Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA) Board Member for International Relations Sheikh Dr. Thani bin Ali Al Thani has participated in the 78th meeting of the Board of Directors of the GCC Commercial Arbitration Center which was held recently via video conferencing.

During the meeting, the minutes of the previous meeting were approved, and the Center’s business report and activities as well as the operational budget from January 1 to October 31, 2020 were reviewed.

The meeting also discussed the Center’s activities related to the registration of arbitration claims, arbitrators, and experts, as well as programs and training courses.

The meeting also discussed and approved the budget of the estimated and operational expenditures and revenues for the year 2021 and the audit report for the year 2019.

The Board of Directors was also briefed on the proposed amendments to the Center’s system.

The Center stressed the importance of arbitration and conciliation in the settlement of commercial and investment disputes, noting that these means help in preserving business relations and solving disputes without resorting to normal courts.
