Doha, Qatar: The Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM) has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Sports and Youth to support the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Championship Qatar 2025.

To be organised by the Qatar Chess Association (QCA) at the Qatar University (QU) Sports and Events Complex from December 26 to 30.

Under the agreement, DAAM will provide the required funding to enhance the organisational and logistical aspects of both the Rapid and Blitz chess components of the championship, in accordance with FIDE’s highest standards.

This partnership reaffirms the role of DAAM in supporting sport activities in Qatar.

The agreement strengthens Qatar’s hosting of world-class tournaments and reaffirms its commitment to developing mind sports, nurturing national talents across all age groups, and promoting a culture of innovation and critical thinking among the youth and the broader community.

FIDE announced that more than 360 male and female players signed up for the event,  which consists of open and women’s competitions as well, and is expected to feature a number of the world’s top-ranked chess players.

President of QCA and Chairman of the Organising Committee Mohammed Al Mudahka commended DAAM’s support for the championship, saying that it will help grow the sport in the State of Qatar.

Al Mudahka appreciated the fund’s interest in ensuring the success of the championship, deemed the most-followed FIDE event, whilst also praising the Ministry of Sports and Youth for its vital role in supporting sport activities in the country and striving for excellence.

Moreover, he expressed QCA’s aspiration for more partnerships in the future. Since its establishment in 2010, DAAM has launched a range of important projects and initiatives in the social, cultural, sports, and charitable fields.

Contributions from publicly listed companies on the Qatar Stock Exchange constitute one of the fund’s main sources of financing, making them key partners in community development efforts.
