Doha: Zero Gravity FC emerged as undisputed champions of the first ever football tournament organised by MES Alumni Association (MESAA), the FFC MESF Football Tournament 2019, powered by Mission20 Events.
The final match between Zero Gravity FC and Batch of 2010 was tied at 1-1 at the end of the second quarter, with a goal each.
Zero Gravity FC clinched the cup at the penalty shoot outs with a 6-5 margin. Second runner up of the tournament was Manara FC who bet MES Faculty FC, again through penalty shoot outs scoring 4 goals against 3 after being tied at 1-1.
The final game was followed by a grand closing ceremony where each of the teams were presented with a participation certificate.
The top three teams were presented with medals.
Individual award winners were: Most Valuable Player (MVP) - Naji Muhammed Shareef (Zero Gravity FC), Golden Boot - Noel Biju Cherian (Zero Gravity FC) and Nawaf Zubair (Manara FC) for scoring 5 goals each during the tournament and the Golden Glove - Fahad Abdulkareem (Manara FC).
The prizes were presented by A K Usman, Founder member and Treasurer of the MES Indian School Management Committee, Ahamed Isham, Director, Sports and Games of the MES Indian School Management Committee, P P Anwar, Family Food Centre and Ziad Usman, President of MESAA. The tournament consisted of 12 teams of ex-students of MES Indian School and faculty that played for 6 weeks every Friday starting from October 18 till the final match on November 22 at the MES Indian School Ground.
The Title sponsor of the Football Tournament was Family Food Centre.
The tournament committee along with the MESAA Management Committee has been instrumental for the smooth conduct of this tournament.
The MESAA Management committee comprises of Ziad Usman, President; Akbar Ali,Vice President; Nihad Ali, General Secretary; Mohamed Shabeeb, Treasurer; Sajid Ettol, Joint Secretary Events; Narayani S Kumar, Joint Secretary Corporate Relations; Amanat Solanki, Joint Secretary Marketing; Nermin Ummerkoya, Joint Secretary Member relations and the coordinators.
