Qatar Central Bank Governor H E Sheikh Abdulla bin Saoud Al Thani and other Qatari delegation members were received by Kazakhstan President H E Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during their recent visit to Kazakhstan.
NUR-SULTAN: The President of Kazakhstan H E Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met yesterday at the presidential palace with Governor of the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) H E Sheikh Abdulla bin Saoud Al Thani and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting dealt with bilateral relations in the financial, banking, and investment sectors. The two sides stressed on the importance of elevating ties to new levels that will be mutually beneficial. Prime Minister of Kazakhstan H E Askar Mamin also met with the QCB Governor and his accompanying delegation where they reviewed bilateral cooperation.
The meeting was also attended by the Governor of Astana International Financial Centre H E Kairat Kelimbetov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Minister of Finance H E Alikhan Smailov, Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan H E Ruslan Dalenov, and Deputy Head of the Office of the Prime Minister H E Aidyn Karimov.
During the QCB Governor’s meeting with the Governor of Astana International Financial Centre, they discussed the services offered by the centre to financial institutions that will look to set up subsidiaries with the centre.
The Qatari delegation also met with the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan H E Beibut Atamkulov, and discussed the available Foreign Direct Investment projects.
The QCB Governor also met with CEO of Kazakhstan’s Sovereign Wealth Fund Akhmetzhan Yessimov, and discussed joint investment fields.
It is worth noting that the visit of the Governor of QCB came in response to an invitation from Governor of Astana International Financial Centre. He was accompanied by a high-ranking delegation with representatives from the central bank, QIA, QFC, QSE, and several Qatari banks.
