According to accurate astronomical calculations by Qatar Calendar House (QCH), residents of Qatar and all Arabic countries will be able to observe three planets of solar system close to moon this month.
“These astronomical phenomena are very important as it is a good chance to observe planets and moon simultaneously. Moreover, it’s a guide for amateur astronomers to know map of sky during this month,” said Dr. Beshir Marzouk, Astronomer expert.
The red planet mars will come closer to Moon on December 14 dawn. Qatar residents can see mars and moon together with naked eye in eastern horizon of Doha dawn sky from the time moon rises until before sunrise time. Moon will rise over Doha sky at 3:37am, while sunrise time will be at 6:11am.
On December 15, the giant planet of our solar system planets Jupiter will be coming closer to Moon; where it will be at two degrees southern Moon’s centre. Qatar residents will be able to see Jupiter and Moon together with naked eye over eastern horizon of Doha dawn sky from Moon rise to sunrise time; where Moon will be rise over Doha sky at 3:29am.
Finally, the nearest planet of the sun, Mercury will be coming close to Moon; where it will be at two degrees southern Moon’s center on December 17. Qatar residents can observe Mercury and Moon together over eastern horizon of Doha sky, but it will be hard to see with naked eye; because Mercury’s rising time will be near to sunrise time.
