Winners of Al Wakrah-Unesco competition for green sustainability pose with officials.
At the conclusion of Qatar Sustainability Week, the Ministry of Municipality and the Environment represented by Al Wakrah Municipality honoured the winning schools that participated in “Al Wakrah-Unesco competition for green sustainability as part of Qatar Sustainability Week programme”.
The award ceremony was attended by Mansour Al Buainain, Director of Al Wakrah Municipality; Bart De Groof, Ambassador of Belgium; Dr Bahia Tahzib-Lie, Ambassador of the Netherlands; Meshal Al Shamari, Director of Qatar Green Building Council; and Salem Saed Bu Sharbak, Advisor to Qatar’s National Committee for Education, Culture and Science.
Al Buainain stressed that under Sustainability Week, the Municipality organised field visits, workshops, awareness lectures and various environmental activities, during which we acquired many valuable experiences and experiences which the municipality will invest in the future in strengthening our partnership with many institutions, organizations and individuals who share municipality’s interest in sustainability and environmental protection.
He pointed out that the celebration of the end of the week of sustainability does not mean that the efforts will be stopped.
He further said, “To achieve our efforts to be the city of Al Wakrah as an example among cities that occupy an advanced position in sustainable development at the regional and international levels, the Wakra Municipality Guidance and Awareness Team will work with a number of strategic partners to adopt and implement a number of field programs and organize awareness visits to promote the values and concepts of sustainability and explore the possibility of implementing a number of projects and ideas related to the safety and development of the environment.”
