Doha, Qatar: Al Jumailiya Youth Center, in cooperation with the Qatar Chess Association (QCA), organised the Al Jumailiyah Chess Championship recently.
The tournament was organised as part of the Center's and QCA's efforts to develop chess and support young talents in Qatar, based on the strategy of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, which strives to empower youth in various fields.
The tournament witnessed the participation of a total of 30 diverse and distinguished players of different nationalities, and witnessed strong competition and great enthusiasm among the participants. In a move aimed at encouraging the players and appreciating their efforts, the center’s management and the QCA presented prizes to the winners for the first eight positions, reflecting the organisers’ appreciation for the skills and efforts exerted.
Prior to the championship, the center participated in the folk games festival organised by the Doha Youth Center in cooperation with Al Ahnaf ibn Qais School, and in the behavioural health program in cooperation with the youth committee of the Arab Sports Club and the youth committee of Al Wakra Sports Club, where educational and sports gear were presented.
