Oil falls, with brent crude recording $97.14 per barrel

Beijing, China: Oil prices declined Thursday, after gains in previous sessions, amid investors monitoring developments in global markets.

Brent crude futures fell 67 cents, or 0.69%, to $97.14 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dropped 62 cents, or 0.65%, to $95.40 per barrel.

Both crude benchmarks climbed about 2% on Wednesday, extending gains from the previous session.

In the US, data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed that crude inventories fell by 8 million barrels to 433.7 million barrels in the week ended May 29.
