Singapore: Represented by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), the State of Qatar participated in the CITES Global Youth Summit, held in Singapore over five days, with broad youth participation from worldwide.
In a statement on Wednesday, the MECC said that this participation is part of Qatar's efforts to enhance its presence in international environmental forums and affirm its commitment to developing a national generation capable of continuing the journey of protecting the environment and biodiversity.
The ministry indicated that the summit is a prestigious international platform aimed at enabling young people to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the details of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and enhance their capabilities to combat the illegal wildlife trade.
The MECC highlighted that the summit program focused on enhancing cooperation among participating youth, providing them with the experience and knowledge to develop innovative solutions to environmental issues and challenges, in addition to discussing regional action plans and selecting regional leaders involved in the agreement.
