Doha, Qatar: The Hamad Aquatic Centre in Aspire Zone buzzed with excitement as the Vortex International Swimming Championship 2026 drew to a successful close, showcasing talent and competitive spirit from April 30 to May 2.
Organised by Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) in collaboration with the Qatar Swimming Association, the three-day event attracted a large and enthusiastic crowd, underlining its growing significance on the regional sports calendar.
Approximately 680 male and female swimmers from more than 30 clubs across five countries participated, competing in a vibrant atmosphere that highlighted the depth of swimming talent in the region.
The championship kicked off with a simple yet engaging opening ceremony featuring a distinctive performance that energised participants and spectators alike. The first day set a strong tone for the competition, while the second day saw intensified action with a series of thrilling races that demonstrated varying technical abilities and a commendable fighting spirit among the young athletes.

“The Vortex International Swimming Championship reflects our ongoing commitment to providing a world-class platform for athletes of all levels to compete, develop, and excel,” he said.
“Through such events, we aim to inspire the next generation of talent while reinforcing Aspire Zone’s position as a leading hub for sports excellence in the region.” The competition reached its climax on the final day, with outstanding performances across all age categories, ranging from young newcomers gaining their first competitive experience to seasoned elite swimmers.
A total of 22 male and female winners were honoured in a celebratory closing ceremony, recognising their remarkable achievements and dedication throughout the event.
Adding a special touch to the championship was the presence of Tunisian Olympic swimmer and world champion Ahmed Jaouadi. His interaction with participants and the crowd provided valuable inspiration, motivating young swimmers and elevating the overall atmosphere of the competition.
The Hamad Aquatic Centre witnessed strong audience engagement, with families and sports enthusiasts filling the stands to cheer on the competitors.
