Singapore: The dollar index fell slightly on Monday, May 4, 2026, and the yen made a surprise rise against the dollar, amid market anticipation.

The yen rose as much as 0.75% to 155.69 before paring its gains.

The dollar index, which measures the performance of the US currency against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.1% to 98.041, the Australian dollar rose 0.2% to 0.7214 against the US dollar, and the New Zealand dollar gained 0.5% to $0.5922.

The euro rose 0.1% to $1.1730, and the pound sterling climbed 0.1% to $1.3595.
